# Social quests Members can earn coins or XP through supported actions on your connected social accounts. Checks and available actions vary by network: some happen inside the widget and others use Verify. Last checked 29 Sep 2026 **Category** Earn. Members do not spend coins to take part. **Your cost comes from** Configured action and post rewards, connected members, and the posts and accounts that become earnable. **Rewards are credited** After a qualifying action or verification processes successfully, without manual review. Network or processing failures can delay crediting. ## What members see 1. Open Socials in the member portal or an embedded Socials widget. 2. Connect a social account or enter an Instagram username. A configured connect reward normally pays once per network after successful processing. 3. Find a supported action in a connected account's feed. Up to eight posts appear per account at once. 4. Complete the action and press Verify where the network requires it. Some actions happen inside the widget. 5. After successful reward processing, coins and XP appear in the member's normal balance. The post and rewards are examples; this is not a product screenshot. Ordinary repeat verification does not pay an existing reward twice. Post rewards are scoped to a post, action and connected account. Follow rewards are per connected page, and connect rewards are per network in the community. Reversals are separate, so these rules are not a lifetime spending cap. ## What you control Connect your organisation's account on a supported network, then configure its Social Quests tab. Facebook has no member follow quest. X follow starts at zero reward, so set an amount before offering it. YouTube comment checks search recent comments and stop paging after reaching older comments; members should verify soon after posting. | Setting | What it does | | --- | --- | | Account | Select the connected community account for this network. Test the exact words and punctuation you plan to accept with the saved post. > Check each network's rules > > Network rules on rewarding engagement can differ and change. Check the current rules for every network and action before offering coins or XP for follows, likes, comments or shares. ## How members are paid - **Verify and pay:** for actions completed on the network, Verify checks available evidence. For supported actions inside the widget, the action response is used. Successful processing updates balances and history without staff approval; failures may need a retry. - **In-widget actions:** supported X and LinkedIn likes, comments and reposts occur inside the widget and pay when the network accepts them. - **Ordinary repeat checks:** an existing reward blocks duplicate payment. Post rewards are scoped to the action, post and connected account; connect and follow have network and page scopes. - **Displayed posts only:** a post that rotates out of the feed can no longer earn through that quest. - **Comments:** verification checks the latest matching comment returned by the network. A member can correct a failed comment and retry; Instagram may need a new comment. Use Test Comment where available. - **Zero reward:** set an unwanted action to zero XP and zero coins on every relevant account and post, then verify the saved configuration. - **Penalties:** where supported and enabled, a later detected reversal can deduct the original reward times your multiplier. Coverage and timing vary; do not treat it as a complete control. ## Ways to use it These are example setups. Use only the actions supported on your chosen network, then check that network's current engagement rules. Launch ### One-time follower drive 120 coins two-page example total - Offer connect and follow where both actions are supported. - At 20 connect and 40 follow coins, one page on each of two networks totals 120 coins initially. - Use Role Permissions for display; confirm eligibility and budget controls before launch. Suits A newly launched community channel. Watch Additional pages, post rewards and reversals sit outside this example. Check each network's rules. Content ### Weekly insight comments 20 coins example per comment - Select one or two recent analysis posts. - Use a minimum word count and matching words. - Budget per commenter and displayed post. Suits Teams with regular market content. Watch Verification uses the latest matching comment returned by the network. Education ### YouTube tutorial comments 8 words example minimum - Select tutorial videos in Custom display. - Ask a question that learners answer in comments. - A subscribe quest can be a separate entry action. Suits New-trader education. Watch Watching is not a supported quest action. Check network rules before rewarding comments or subscriptions. Event ### Launch post boost 80 coins one-account example total - On X or LinkedIn, pin an event post in Custom display. - Set supported like, comment and repost rewards. - The example uses 20, 30 and 30 coins for ordinary completion on one account. Suits A dated announcement or event. Watch A Custom post stays earnable while displayed with non-zero rewards. Remove it or clear rewards when the campaign ends. Always on ### Regular feed rewards 8 posts visible per account - Use automatic recent-post display. - Keep supported action rewards modest. - Confirm audience eligibility and budget controls before a restricted launch. Suits Communities with frequent posts. Watch Eight posts at 25 coins each total 200 coins for one completion per post on one account. More posts or accounts add opportunities; penalties are supplementary. Community ### Chat-group join Milestones use a submission - Social quests cannot verify chat-group membership. - Create a milestone submission for proof such as a screenshot or username. - An admin approves it, with an attempt limit. Suits Members joining a chat community. Watch Budget staff review time as well as the milestone reward. ## Planning your economics At the example rates, 500 participants and 12 posts generate an estimated 54,000 engagement coins or $270.00 per month. Their initial connect and follow actions add 15,000 coins or $75.00. Change the assumptions below. Actual cash cost depends on redemption and fulfilment. Monthly post rewards model one connected community account; more connected accounts or posts add coins. Example assumptions: 100 coins per FX lot and a $0.005 coin value. Monthly post rewards model one account; initial connect and follow rewards use the average networks linked. Other accounts and posts can add cost. This is not an enforced cap. ## Timing and limits - If verification is already in progress or a network is delayed, members may be asked to retry. Follow the message shown. - Automatic display uses up to eight recent posts per account. Refresh Posts requests an update; network availability can delay it. A post earns only while it stays displayed. - YouTube comment checks search recent comments and stop paging after reaching older comments. Older comments may not be found. - Penalty checks skip LinkedIn, posts no longer displayed and checks without usable network evidence. Deleted-comment checks have a five-day age limit. Confirm the live schedule separately. - Social coins enter the normal member wallet and can be spent in the Store like other coins. **If a YouTube quest will not verify** For a subscription or comment, first check that the member is using the connected YouTube account and the exact channel or video shown in the quest. ## Not supported yet > What is not a social quest > > Telegram-style group joins, Discord or WhatsApp membership, link visits, video watching, quizzes, proof uploads and admin-reviewed tasks belong outside Social Quests. For a join task, use a [Milestones](https://docs.returning.ai/features/milestones.md) custom condition with a member submission and admin approval. - Not supported Additional networks Social Quests supports the five networks in the matrix above, not Telegram, Discord, WhatsApp or other networks. - Not supported Unsupported action combinations There is no Instagram like or follow quest, Facebook follow quest, or LinkedIn follow setting in the admin. - Not supported Repeatable and sequenced quests Ordinary repeat checks of an existing reward do not pay twice. There is no daily repeat or built-in follow-then-comment sequence. - Not supported Campaign dates and budgets Quests have no start or expiry date, campaign budget or total-spend cap. Posts only earn while displayed. - Not supported Comment relevance Word count and keyword checks exist, but a semantic relevance check is not active. - Not supported Public quest-management API There is no published API for creating social quests or reading quest completion state. ## For your developers No social quest management endpoints are published.
